    Jianxi Luo is a tenured Associate Professor with the Singapore University of Technology and Design, Director of Data-Driven Innovation Lab, and former Director of SUTD Technology Entrepreneurship Programme. Internationally, he is Managing Editor of Journal of Engineering Design, Associate Editor of Design Science, Associate Editor of Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis & Manufacturing, Department Editor of IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and editorial board member of Research in Engineering Design. In 2022, he is named a G20 Professor by the G20 Organizing Committee for his pionnering work on Data-Driven Innovation.

     

    Professor Luo is recognized among world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford and Elsevier, specializing in the subfields of Design and Artificial Intelligence. His research fuses design science, system science and AI to develop methods, tools, expert systems and knowledge infrastractures for innovation in engineering design, technology management and policy. Several expert systems that he co-invented with students have been adopted by industrial firms around the world. He received over a dozen awards from ASME, Design Society, INFORMS among other international organizations. He has (co-)authored 150+ articles and given 100+ invited talks at 70+ firms, governments and universities around the world. His teaching covers design, systems, creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership.

     

    Previously, he had been a faculty member at New York University, visiting scholar at Columbia University and Cambridge University, and Chair of INFORMS Technology Innovation Management & Entrepreneurship Section. He also had brief work or consulting experience with EDF, WEF, ADB and Toyota. He holds a Ph.D. in "Engineering Systems: Technology, Management, and Policy" and S.M. in "Technology and Policy" from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and M.S. and B.E. degrees in engineering from Tsinghua University.
